SLJ : Tangrams Step it up – Advanced

Hi Bloggers!
Today for the SLJ task  Tangrams I have done the step it up activity. The step it up activity is to make 4 other Tangrams using Mathigon. But instead of doing the basic ones, we do the advanced ones! Wait… You’re wondering what are tangrams? Well, Tangrams is a Chinese geometrical puzzle. This Puzzle is a square with seven different parts . You use those different parts to make images. To make the images you are welcome to rotate the parts, move them . An amazing feature about Mathigon is that we are able to use little templates . These templates have a image set into it and we have to rotate and move around the 7 parts to make it fit into that image.

It is so cool to do! I really enjoy doing tangrams, They personally help my brain get going and it is really interesting and such a fun activity to do . I think you would love to try this so you can try out doing this task by pressing this link! Mathigon link . ( Not sure if link will work ) You can share how you went with me in the comments, I will be interested to see what you create, you can start with the basic ones if you like and go into the advanced or you can do it any way you like! :))

Anyways here is my tangrams

Which is your favourite? Do you like..
( In order of the pictures )

  1. Swan
  2. Leia (Name or  character in a movie )
  3. Quidditch ( Sport )
  4.  Soccer / Football ( Sport )
  5. Elsa ( Name or character in movie )

Let me know in the comments!
REFLECTION –

I think this turned out amazing, I love how it looks, My personal favourite is numbers 1,3,4 . Do you agree or disagree?  I tried my best on this activity and it took me a bit but it was worth it! I love doing Tangrams do you?
Wait… Have you ever done Tangrams? If you have did you enjoy doing it? :))
Thank you so much for checking out this blog post.
SLJ is so much fun!!!
See you in my next blog post.

Bye!!! :))

SLJ : Tangrams Kickstart Basic

Hi bloggers,
Today I have done yet another SLJ task, This task is called Tangrams. Tangrams is a task which has a site called Mathigon on this site Mathigon we can create.. Tangrams ! Wait.. Just incase you don’t quite know what Tangrams are then this explanation will help you out a bit. Tangrams are a Chinese Geometrical puzzle. Which is in the shape of a square cut into 7 different pieces, These pieces are used to make pictures. No shapes are to be overlapped.
I find this cool because I didn’t know that Tangrams were from China. So that was an interesting fact that I found out about Tangrams.

Anyways back to the task! The task for the Kickstarter activity, like I mentioned is to use the Mathigon Tangrams site to create tangrams. On this site we just  use the 7 shapes to make some pictures. There are selections of templates we can use to help us  then we just have to turn , rotate, and move the shapes. This is quite tough because it takes a lot of effort to try to find the right place to put the shape and how to rotate it to make it fit. I made 4 different tangrams so I hope you enjoy them.
Here it is

My personal favourite is definitely the teapot or the umbrella. They just look so cool!
I love how all of them turned out and I LOVE this activity. It is probably my favourite activity so far. Which one do you like the most?

REFLECTION –
I think I did so well, I love how all of them turned out but I think maybe next time I might give the animal ones a try? I am sure they would be fun ! Like I mentioned earlier the Teapot and the umbrella tangrams are my favourite!

Thank you for checking out my blog post!
Make sure to have an amazing summer blogging 🙂
See you bloggers in my next blog post which will be Tangrams Step it up

SLJ : Kickstart | Which one doesn’t belong?

Hi Bloggers!
Happy new year!
Oh my gosh, the year has gone by so fast, it is honestly so sad but exciting! I am going to be going to a new middle school, it is absolutely crazy, But I look forward to it and I hope that summer is going to be sunny and nice, These past few days in where I live..  are very, let’s just say hot!

Anyways shall we go back to SLJ? In case you’re wondering why I recently have not been posting since I believe Christmas eve? For the next few days I might be doing a SLJ marathon, But I look forward to doing the new tasks. The task that I have been doing today is called Which one doesn’t belong?

This task Which one doesn’t belong is a SLJ task containing different shapes with 1 reason each on why the shapes don’t belong. There are 4 shapes on each slide ( 4 slides ) and you have to write at least 1 reason why the shape doesn’t belong for all of them! This can be tricky for a lot of people including me, It took me quite some time for some of the shapes. At some point I had trouble doing this task which was  slide 5 ( 4th shape slide ) , it took me so long for this slide. Anyways..

Here is my work!
Hope you enjoyed it, And for the last slide feel free to share what reasons why each of my chosen shapes don’t belong !
REFLECTION : I have enjoyed this task, Although for some slides it took me quite some time and I struggled on some parts. I really enjoy doing Geometry and Maths. Maths is one of my all time favourite subjects. I also hope you have learnt some things! I definitely have . Overall I think I did quite well. But next time I would try to give more depth into each answer.

Have you ever learnt about geometry? If you have let me know and did you enjoy it?
I hope you learnt something new and give me your thoughts on why you think each shape does not belong for the end slide.
Have the best summer ever!
Keep rocking and enjoy the SLJ tasks.
And see you in my next blog post.

SLJ : Step it up Where’s Wally? : Summer learning journey

Hi Bloggers!

Back with even more SLJ ( Summer learning journey ) , I have done the step it up Where’s Wally? And I am excited to share this with you.
Incase you’re like wait what?! How are you doing step it up without your kick start finished? Don’t worry I have finished it and blogged it, If you would like to check it out I posted it a couple days ago. The task was pretty cool and if you have seen a Where’s Wally book then you probably will like it. Anyways let’s go talk about this task for Step it up!

The task for Where’s Wally step it up is to make an animation of Pac-wally aka based on the game Pac-man ! Just like a normal game of Pac-man the ghosts are out to get Pac and Pac has to make sure Pac doesn’t get destroyed by the ghosts. But we had to create this in an animation on Google slides. We could either use the starter ( One that we can finish ) or one to start our own. I decided to use the one that I could finish  because I didn’t quite know how to start it off and I kept adding slides onto it. This was a interesting task to do and I think it turned out well!

Hope you enjoy it

This task was interesting to do but it was very frustrating because as I moved Pac I had to move the other 4 ghosts and then sometimes I would forget to move them so when I went to play it the ghosts weren’t moving. So that bothered me a bit. But overall this was quite fun, It was kinda fun to do.

REFLECTION : I think I made this well, but I think that next time I would do Pac bumping into the ghost, It sounds pretty funny!! Anyways I liked the end result but I didn’t love making this. But overall this task was pretty fun and interesting.

Have you ever played Pac man before?
If you have when you first played were escaping or getting caught by the ghosts?

Thanks for learning with me!
Hope you learnt something new
Have a blessed and happy Christmas!
Bye!

SLJ : R.E.S.P.E.C.T Step it up – Summer learning journey

Hi Bloggers!
I have currently done the step it up activity for Summer learning journeys activity R.E.S.P.E.C.T , Honestly this has been tough but fun doing all these activities, In case you’re wondering Summer learning journey is a fun journey you can do in the summer holidays. There are points that come with each post and comment you do. This is great because you can earn prizes! The prizes are so cool like headphones. This is so entertaining to do and you can learn a lot . Anyways!

For the Step it up activity you have to watch the videos first. Then start the task. The task for this activity is to either make a poster about how you show respect at your house or your culture, if you want to instead of that you can make a logo for a T- Shirt or Backpack. I decided to choose the T-Shirt and Backpack logo making. I chose to do the backpack and I made the design. I tried my best to make the design somewhat simple but meaningful and powerful . This task was wonderful I enjoyed making the logo and then writing about why I chose to make the logo look like that. I am quite proud of it so I hope you enjoy.

Here is what my logo looks like

REFLECTION : Wow. This activity was so fun to do and I really love how my logo turned out. In my opinion it looks quite nice and simple. I liked how I made it simple and this task was just so fun. I really enjoyed doing this and I hope the next activities I do keep getting funner and funner!
Have you ever made a logo online or in real life? If you have I would love to see it!

Thank you for learning with me.
I hope you enjoyed this as much as I did.
Have a good and blessed Christmas!
Merry Christmas

SLJ : R.E.S.P.E.C.T Summer learning journey Kickstart

Hi Bloggers!
I have done another Summer learning journey activity. This activity is about Respect. Respect is a big thing to have, It is important you respect everyone and everything. This activity has Kick start and step it up.  For the Kick start activity you watch the 2 videos linked to the slide then read the text linked to the slide.  Then we start the activity

New activity  means new challenge has begun!
The activity is to make a copy of the Google drawings and you will see a Kiekie made out of shape, For this you can colour it and thicken the lines and borders or you can use it as a idea and start from scratch. I decided to use the shapes and to colour them. I tried my best to make the Kiekie look nice. Wait you’re wondering what Kiekie is? Well I’m glad you asked , Kiekie is a Tongan piece of clothing, The reason Tongans wear a Kiekie is to signify the beauty of the Tongan culture . I think the wearing of the Kiekie connects to the word respect because Tongan people wear the Kiekie as their culture and they are proud of it. That shows real respect for their culture. I think it is super important to have respect for your culture and other cultures.

What I thought about the task.

This task was quite easy to do, but it took me some time. This activity is a cool way to show respect to others. My favourite part of this activity was colouring it. It looked so beautiful! And also reading the text about Mele making Kiekie’s, They looked absolutely gorgeous.
Now that you know about my task…
Here is my Kiekie

I hope you like it!
REFLECTION : I think I did well, I liked how I did the colours and set it out. Maybe next time I might make the bottom line not cut off.. But overall I enjoyed doing this task and I loved learning about the Kiekie

Thanks for reading this blog post!
I enjoyed doing this task!
See you in my next SLJ blog post!

SLJ : Step it up Summer Styles

Hi Bloggers!
Wow, Today has felt like a SLJ marathon but these tasks are so mesmerizing and fun to do . Like after finishing one I want to do another one. These have been so cool so far.

Wait.. are you wondering what is SLJ? Well.. The summer learning journey is a fun adventure you can explore through, You can do new activities each day because there is 1 activity launched each day! Crazy how much work the SLJ team puts into these activities! There are so many I can’t keep up, But with these incredibly fun activities there comes a reward, How to get the rewards? By getting points! How to get points? By being a cool edublogger! ( Blogging the SLJ activities ) . They can earn you points as well as comments. Sounds amazing right?

Well now time to talk to you about the Summer style activity. If you have seen my previous post then you would know I have done the Kickstarter activity for Summer styles. If not you should 100% check that out after this blog post, the activity was so fun and cool, I am sure you would love it.  Who wouldn’t? Wait.. are you wondering about what kick start is and what is step it up? Well basically Kickstarter is like part 1 and stepping it up is part 2! Awesome right? You can do more FUN

Anyways!
The steps we have to do so we can do the Summer style activity is to watch the videos ( Obviously ) !  Then make a copy of the Google drawing linked to the slide. Then start to colour it in! This colouring was fun and felt relaxing to do. I chose some gradient colours which looked amazing!
Anyways here is my artwork

I made it like Land / Dirt , Lake , Rocks, Ocean , Sand and hills!

I tried my best to make it look nice. This was relaxing to do, it felt like mindful colouring but on the Chromebook..

Reflection : I think I did well on this, I liked how I coloured it , This was fun to do and I quite enjoyed this task. This task was easy to do though. Have you done this task yet? If you have I would love to see it ( You could leave a comment with a link 🙂 ).
Thanks for checking out this blog post!
See you in my next one

SLJ : Kickstart Summer Styles : Summer Learning journey

Hi Bloggers!
In today’s blog post I have done another summer learning journey activity, in case you’re wondering, Summer learning journey is an adventure to do in the summer holiday. But the “Fun” part is the rewards, like a Chromebook, Headphones, Headset , Key board , Electric toy car and so much more! This helps kids to still be motivated to learn during the holidays, What motivates them? The prizes / rewards!  There are many tasks and activities to do. 1 task is launched each day . you can earn prizes by points. Sounds cool right? Well it is super cool!

Anyways here is the activity I have worked on. The activity is called Summer styles, This activity is about making contrast with lines or  warm and cool colours. We watched some videos on how to do it then we could choose between doing line contrast or colour contrast, I decided to do. This was a interesting task to do because for this task we could do it by hand on paper or on our Chromebooks. I decided to do the task on my Chromebook, I opened up a Google drawing and I used the line tools and shapes to make this contrast. I hope you enjoy it.

I am so proud of how this turned out, it took me so long to make and I started from scratch. I hope you enjoyed it! I loved making this.
Have you ever done this on Google drawings before? If you have done this before , you can comment a link to it, I would love to check it out!
REFLECTION : I think I did so so well, I am so proud of how it turned out, I loved doing this but next time I would do the coloured one because I think that would be a bit more challenging. Loved this task!
Thanks for making this task SLJ!

SLJ : Step it up Groove Pizza : Summer learning journey

Hi Bloggers!
Welcome to another Summer learning journey blog post, In case this is your first SLJ post you have seen, SLJ is basically a journey that you can do in the summer which have loads of activities for you to do, Each post and comment earns you a point. These points help you get prizes like headphones, Chromebooks, books , and so much more. This is a super interesting journey so I hope you enjoy looking at this journey and learning with me!

I have done the step it up Groove Pizza and I am going to share it with you.  SLJ’s step it up task for the groove pizza is to make an album cover for a song and then make a song which goes with that album cover. Summer learning journey provided us with a template we could use for the album cover. I used the template but I changed up the colours and made a name for the song and added some images on it. This task is pretty interesting to do and it gets your brain going. Glad that I did this task! I decided to name the song Jazzy Jam because I wanted the song to be jazz and I was looking for a word that starts with the letter j.

Anyways now that you know about the task here is my Groove Pizza Step it up audio

I tried to make it jazzy because the name of the song is Jazzy Jam.
Now here is the screenshot of my pizza

And here is my album cover

Hope you enjoyed it!
REFLECTION : I think I did well on the music and making the music but for the album cover next time I would try to add more detail to it because it looks a little bit plain in my opinion.

Thanks for learning with me!
See you in my next post

SLJ : Groove Pizza Summer Learning Journey

Hi Bloggers!
I am going on a SLJ hunt, I have missed out on so so so so SO MANY tasks from being off my Chromebook, the amount is crazy honestly. I am on my 3rd task right now which I am about to share with you. In case this is your first SLJ post you have seen and you’re wondering… ” What is this Summer learning journey you keep going on about.. ” .

Well what is SLJ is below this text
What is SLJ?
Now time for our task!
Wait did you see the joke? Like I said what is SLJ is going to be below the text? If you didn’t get it that’s okay… Anyways , Now time to say what actually is SLJ
SLJ is a fun journey that you can do during the summer holidays, The purpose of the Summer learning journey is to allow us to learn during the summer holidays as well as have fun! This is such an awesome journey because there is a new activity each day which is so so so so much fun to do and I have learnt so much. But with this summer learning you earn points from comments and SLJ posts. These points can earn you rewards! Sounds cool right?

Anyways, I have not done so many activities so I am going to be doing a lot of activities today.
Today’s 1st activity I am doing is the groove pizza, The groove pizza is basically a website where you can make a beat / make music on it in the shape of a circle ( Like the shape of a pizza ). You just move the beats to your liking and make some cool music. It sounds pretty awesome in my opinion. Once we finished our beat then we would watch a video on how to download it and then publish it, which is what I am doing right now, this task is pretty interesting to do and I really enjoyed doing it .

So now here is my audio

This was so fun to do! It got my brain working for the start of the day of SLJ activities, I look forward to doing even more SLJ activities. This website is so cool and I will definitely use this once in a while when i’m a bit bored. Thank you so much SLJ for making such a good and fun task.

REFLECTION : I think I did well, I loved making the beat and at the end it sounded nice, The video on how to use Groove pizza was a little bit confusing though at first, But I ended up getting it at the end. This was so fun , thanks for sharing this task with the cluster SLJ!

Thanks for checking out this awesome SLJ task
I look forward to see you in my next one!
Gonna go do more tasks now..
